Teen Martial ArtsShou Shu Teens
A place to train hard with people your own age.
- Monday and Wednesday 6:30 to 7:30 pm
Teenagers get their own class for a reason. They are past the kids curriculum, they can train at real intensity, and they generally do not want to be in a room full of eight year olds. This class treats them as capable, which is usually the thing they are looking for.
What you will learn
In this class.
Practical self-defense
The Shou Shu curriculum at full detail, including situations teens actually face: grabs, shoves, being cornered, getting away from someone bigger.
Real conditioning
Training that is genuinely hard. Most teens find this is the part they end up proud of.
Confidence that shows
Posture, eye contact, and the calm that comes from having practiced a bad situation before it happens.
Training partners
A group that shows up for each other. For a lot of teens this ends up mattering as much as the martial arts.
A typical class
What to expect.
An hour of warm-up, technique, and partner drills at teen intensity. Instructors expect effort and give direct feedback. Students progress through the same animal degrees as the adult program.
Your first class is free. Wear comfortable athletic clothes, bring water, and arrive a few minutes early so we can show you around.
Questions
About Teen Martial Arts.
My teen has never done martial arts. Is that a problem?
No. Beginners start regularly and the class is built to absorb them. Everyone in the room was new once, and it is normal to spend the first few weeks feeling behind.
Can a teen train in the adult class instead?
Sometimes, depending on maturity and size. Come to a free class and we will give you an honest recommendation.
Is this good for a teen who is not into team sports?
That is a large part of who trains here. There is no bench and no cutting. Progress is measured against where you started.
Try it free.
No pressure and no contract. Come take a real class and see if it fits.
