Family Shou Shu
Train together instead of watching from the bleachers.

Most martial arts schools put parents on a bench along the wall. Family Shou Shu puts you on the mat next to your kid. One class, ages 5 and up, everybody training the same curriculum at their own level. And because parents train free, a family can add this without adding tuition.

Animal styles, self-defense technique and conditioning, scaled so a 6 year old and a 40 year old can work the same material side by side.
Training with your kid
Partner drills where you are the partner. Kids work noticeably harder when a parent is on the mat, and they get to see you be a beginner at something.
A shared habit
Two nights a week that are already family time. No sitting in the car, no scrolling in the lobby.
Self-defense for the whole household
Everyone learns the same escapes and the same awareness, which makes the conversations at home easier.

What to expect.
An hour built for mixed ages. Warm-up together, technique broken down so every level has a version to work on, then partner drills where families often pair up. Instructors adjust expectations by age without splitting the room.
Your first two classes are free. Wear comfortable athletic clothes, bring water, and arrive a few minutes early so we can show you around.

Do parents really train free?
That is the offer as it stands for the 2026-27 school year. Ask us when you come in and we will confirm exactly how it applies to your family.
What if my kid and I are at totally different levels?
Expected, and the class is designed for it. Everyone works the same technique at the level they are at, and pairing a beginner with a more advanced partner is normal in martial arts.
Can one parent train with two kids?
Yes. Family classes regularly have a parent working with more than one child, and the instructors help manage it.
